5 Steps to Refueling Your Creative

Losing your creative can totally be a thing. I promise, you're not alone. We can all get in a rut where our ideas feel so basic and mediocre, our greatness seems so far fetched and frankly we begin believing we don't have what it takes to "make it". But can I be honest—sometimes it just takes a little refueling to get you back on your Ps & Qs. Trust me, I've been there...more than once. That said, I would love to share my 5 steps to refueling your creative.

1. Change your environment.

I mean let's keep it real...most of us work from the same location day in and day out. We stare at the same 4 walls praying for a great idea to come flying from the ceiling fan, when maybe a little people watching {and a new environment} could perhaps do the trick! From a new coffee shop, a day pass at a local co-working space or even hanging in your community clubhouse...a new environment is a GREAT way to get refueled! Just try it and see!

2. Take a break.

Sometimes taking a break can be exactly what you need to get your creative juices back flowing. Have you ever written a paper...thought it was perfect, but then came back only to discover several grammatical errors? To be honest, being creative sometimes takes a fresh brain! It's ok to close up shop for the day, take a break and come back to it! New ideas just might form.

3. Get out of your head.

Listen, you may have already arrived at your next creative idea...but you begin overthinking so hard that the idea no longer feels fresh. Hey friend, it's fresh...let it be, and let it evolve! Sometimes it's not our creative that needs refueling...but yet our mindset (but that's another blog post).

4. Create a new playlist.

I don't know about you, but music gets me going (especially a bomb Hip Hop Gospel playlist). There is just something in music that makes me feel unstoppable! So! Try creating a new playlist and see what happens! You might launch your biggest idea yet!

5. Get out of town.

I am a strong believer in taking vacations! Man...I certainly wish I did this more! But one thing is for sure, anytime I take a relaxing trip and come back I feel so refreshed, refueled and ready to work! Do you have a fave spot? Mine is Palm Springs, Cali! It's the perfect low-key city to get creatively inspired!

Well there you have it, my 5 steps to refueling your creative! What do you love to do?
