From Panic to Promotion: How Five Days Changed Everything

Five days.
That’s how long it took to go from “I think I’m about to get laid off” to “We’d like to make you a job offer.”
Let me pause there.
Because I don’t take that lightly—not for one second. I didn’t get laid off. My position was preserved. But I did feel the weight of that possibility.
And in those in-between moments—where you're working through uncertainty, showing up while mentally preparing for worst-case scenarios—it’s hard not to rehearse every “what if” in your mind.
The Reality of the Unknown
It’s a quiet kind of emotional labor. The kind that has you scanning job boards late at night while still showing up to 9am meetings with a smile. The kind that makes you question if all your experience, dedication, and impact could be erased by one restructuring decision.
It’s not that I didn’t believe in my value.
It’s just that sometimes, even knowing your worth doesn’t cancel the reality that when hard decisions are on the table, your best work still might not be enough to keep you safe.
And that’s what made this moment so layered: yeah, I wasn’t laid off. But I was close enough to feel the ripple. Close enough to have the “what’s next?” conversation with God.
Then Came the Shift
Just five days after learning my position was retained, a new opportunity [I pursued in my waiting] showed up in my inbox.
One that reminded me: God is always working, even when we can’t see it.
The timing wasn’t just perfect—it was intentional.
Here’s What Five Days Taught Me
God doesn’t need a long timeline to turn things around. What feels like a hard stop could just be the beginning of something bigger.
Provision and positioning are often happening simultaneously. Sometimes, while you’re praying to keep what you have, He’s preparing something new entirely.
You don’t need to know how it’s all going to work out to trust that it will. Peace doesn’t come from clarity. It comes from confidence in God’s character.
To the One Still Waiting
If you’re reading this and you're in the space I was five days before the shift—please don’t let the silence fool you.
Just because nothing seems to be moving doesn’t mean God isn’t.
He’s strategic like that.
Quiet like that.
Faithful like that.
You don’t have to earn your way into His plan. You just have to remain available when the door opens.
A Word of Grace
To the incredible people impacted by layoffs—the ones I had the pleasure of working with—you didn’t do anything wrong. You’re not being punished. And you haven’t “missed” your moment.
Your expertise still matters.
Your leadership still speaks.
And your next opportunity may not be a fallback—it might just be your level-up.
Final Thought
In just two weeks I’m stepping into something new. But I’m carrying with me the lessons that only come from walking through the fog, not around it.
God didn’t just preserve my position—He prepared me for a pivot. And when He moves, He moves intentionally.
So if you're still waiting, hold on.
Your five days might be closer than you think.
Sending all the love & vibes,
Britney
Amen….
If this was not a whole word. God was reminding me that I have done more with less. I also have multiplied what was non-existent. For the past week He has ministered “SHIFT” and then I get this blessed reminder. Thank you for your surrender + His timing.
