Is Your Biz About God or You?

Let me tell on myself real quick.
I used to say “God is in my business” like it was a cute tagline. But if I’m being real... He was only in it when stuff stopped working. When launches flopped, when money was funny, when the anxiety crept in—I’d pray. I’d cry. But before all that? I wasn’t asking Him much of anything.
I was making moves, booking clients, building systems, posting content—and just hoping He’d cosign it all on the back end.
But boy let me tell you... that’s not Kingdom. That’s hustle with a Bible verse slapped on top.
So What Does It Really Mean to Let God Lead?
It means before you say yes to the anything… you ask. Before you post the reel… you pause. Before you pivot, launch, or add-to-cart that new course—you stop and check in:
“God… is this You or is this me?”
Because here's the truth:
When God is really the CEO, He’s not just invited to the meeting—He’s calling it.
But Let’s Be Honest...
Somewhere along the way, we started chasing growth, not God. We started tracking sales, not souls. We started treating people like followers and numbers instead of image-bearers.
And we wonder why it feels off. Why the fruit ain’t fruiting. Why it looks “successful” on paper but don’t feel like peace.
Here’s why: It was never supposed to be about business. It was about Kingdom all along.
The Question That Rocked Me:
A few Sundays ago, my pastor said something that hit me in the chest:
“What are you doing on Earth that would cause God to want to resource you?”
Whew.
Because yes, God is a provider. Yes, He’s faithful. But He’s also strategic. He funds purpose. He resources impact.
So if we’re asking God to bless the business… we have to be honest about what we’re actually building.
Time for a Heart Check:
Let’s sit with some questions together (yes because most of my content is written to check myself too):
What am I building?
Who is it really for?
Will it bring people closer to God—or just closer to me?
Am I trying to be impressive... or impactful?
Do I manipulate to market?
Do I treat people like purpose—or like transactions?
Sometimes our intentions are pure, but our habits get messy. We drift. We default to hustle. We forget to pause.
But God is gracious—and He’s always calling us back.
Ready to Rebuild with Him at the Center?
If you're feeling out of alignment, you’re not broken. You’re just being redirected.
That’s why I created Planted for Purpose—a self-paced, faith-based workbook to help you:
Understand your God-given personality + leadership style
Discover your spiritual gifts
Get clarity on what you’re called to do
AND learn how to actually walk it out in business, ministry, and real life
It’s for the folks who are done chasing clout and are ready to chase calling. Remember though... everything goes to God in prayer FIRST though.
So Here’s Your Invitation, FAM:
Pause. Pray. Check your heart. And if needed—rebuild the whole thing. You know... pivot.
Let your next move be obedience, not aesthetics. Let your goal be impact, not influence. And let your business be what it was always meant to be—a vessel for Kingdom. Plain and simple, kinda.
