Here’s what I’ve learned:


No, you’re not a failure.


Yes, your expertise is still valid.


And absolutely, corporate will welcome you back—when you show up fully as yourself.


My Story of Pivoting (Again)


If there’s one thing people know about me, it’s this:


I will pivot—proudly and without apology.


From industries to businesses to full-time roles, I’ve followed the nudges of God and the needs of my season. And every pivot has sharpened me.


So if you’re feeling that tug to go back to corporate—whether for stability, structure, or strategy—don’t let shame keep you stuck.


Let me walk you through what worked for me.


1. I Owned My Entrepreneurial Journey


I didn’t try to hide my business on my resume—I led with it.


I showed how entrepreneurship made me a better strategist, problem-solver, and leader.


I turned my experience into evidence.


2. I Branded Everything


And I mean everything.


I built a personal brand that reflected not just what I’ve done—but who I am.


That looked like:


  • A branded resume & reference sheet

  • A clean personal website

  • A polished LinkedIn profile

  • A headshot that screamed “hire her”

  • Thank-you notes that left a lasting impression


I wanted people to feel me before they ever met me.


3. I Sold Myself Like a Service


Every interview?


I came with strategy.


I sent branded thank-you notes.


I created one-sheeters mapping out how I’d approach the role in the first 30 days.


Why? Because assignments deserve intention.


I treated the hiring process like client onboarding—custom, thoughtful, and well-executed.


4. I Let My Voice Speak


I started writing on LinkedIn again—not perfectly, but consistently enough that people could “stalk my brain” and understand my value.


If I wanted them to hire me, I had to show them how I think.


5. I Negotiated Like a CEO


I didn’t shrink.


I asked for what I needed.


I stopped viewing myself as someone trying to “prove” she could return to corporate—and started showing up like the asset I am.


6. I Let God Guide


Not fear.

Not opinions.

Not shame.


I prayed for direction and peace—and when I had it, I moved.


7. I Set Boundaries Up Front


I made a promise to myself:


No code-switching.

No pretending.

No shrinking to fit a title.


If I couldn’t show up fully as me—I wouldn't accept the offer. Period.
