Walking By Faith is Easier Said Than Done

Let’s be honest for a sec…

“Walk by faith, not by sight” sounds real cute on a mug. It looks great on a T-shirt. And it’s definitely a favorite Instagram caption. But let’s talk about living that out in real life.

Because when bills are due, doors keep closing, and prayers feel like they’re bouncing off the ceiling—it’s hard to keep saying, “I trust God,” when your life don’t look like the promise.

But that’s where the real faith walk begins.

When Faith Doesn’t Match the Facts

Faith gets tested the most when it feels like nothing’s working.

  • You’re doing the right things… but the job still didn’t come through.

  • You’re praying and fasting… but the situation is still a mess.

  • You’re trying to stay positive… but discouragement hits heavy.

Let’s be real: it’s easy to believe God when everything’s going right. But when everything’s falling apart? Whew. That’s when faith stops being just a word and becomes a choice.

Just Because You Can’t See It, Doesn’t Mean He Ain’t Working

Here’s the thing: God’s silence doesn’t mean He’s ghosted you. He’s not petty like that.

Look at Joseph—his story was full of betrayal, setbacks, and straight-up lies told on him (Genesis 37–50). But all that time, God was behind the scenes setting him up for purpose.

It didn’t look like it, but every step was necessary. That’s faith.

Faith vs. Feelings

Your feelings will tell you to quit. Your faith says, keep going.

Feelings say, “This ain’t working.”

Faith says, “God is still faithful.”

One thing I’m learning? It’s okay to feel what you feel—but don’t live there. Let your feelings pass through, but let your faith set the direction.

So What Does Walking by Faith Actually Look Like?

Glad you asked, fam:

  • Talk to God, even when you’re mad or confused. Don’t fake it. He can handle the real you.

  • Open your Bible—even when it doesn’t feel like it’s “clicking.” Seeds get planted, trust me.

  • Surround yourself with people who remind you of God’s truth—not just your current situation.

  • Write it down. The wins, the small answers to prayer, the moments God came through.

  • Take the next step—even if it’s shaky. You don’t have to know the whole plan. Just move in the direction God’s nudging you.

Final Word:

This faith walk ain’t always pretty. Some days it’s a full sprint. Other days? You’re dragging yourself just trying to pray one sentence.

But don’t stop.

Don’t let your feelings make you forfeit what God’s promised. Don’t let your sight sabotage your steps. If God said it, He’s going to do it. Period.

So even when it’s hard… even when it’s quiet… even when it’s uncomfortable—keep walking.

The same God who gave you the promise is the One who’s gonna carry you through.
