Chasing Goals Over God?

You ever look around your life and think, “I should feel good about this…”
You’ve done the thing.
Got the degree.
Landed the job.
Built the brand.
Checked the boxes.
From the outside, it looks like you’re winning.
But on the inside? Something feels... off.
You can’t quite put your finger on it—but you know the feeling.
Disconnected. Unsatisfied. Restless.
Been there.
Whew—been there.
And what I’ve learned is this:
Sometimes we’re faithful to the desire... but not faithful to God.
Let’s Be Clear—Desire Isn’t the Enemy.
God created us with dreams, ambition, and the capacity to build. Desire isn't the problem.
But unchecked desire? That’s where we can get caught up.
Because we’ll chase what we want with our whole chest—and call it obedience—
when we never even asked God about it.
We don’t pray.
We don’t pause.
We don’t seek.
We just go.
And Whew—the Chase Be Real.
We chase the bag.
We chase the aesthetic.
We chase the relationship, the timeline, the glow-up, the “soft life.”
And sometimes?
We get it. All of it.
But here’s the kicker:
Just because you got what you wanted doesn’t mean you got what you needed.
Because we were loyal to the idea of the life... But not to the God who gives life.
Let’s Talk About the Difference.
There’s a difference between being driven and being disciplined in the Spirit.
Faithfulness to desire sounds like:
“I manifested this.”
“This is my season.”
“I knew I could make it happen if I just stayed consistent.”
Faithfulness to God sounds like:
“Even if it doesn’t go how I pictured, I’ll still trust Him.”
“Even if the door closes, I know it was protection.”
“Even if I don’t like the outcome, He sees what I can’t.”
It’s one thing to chase a goal.
It’s another thing to chase God.
One is rooted in your effort.
The other is rooted in His will.
So Let Me Ask You This…
Have you been loyal to your vision… but not connected to the Vine?
Have you been checking in with your plans… but not with your Provider?
Have you built a whole life around your wants… but never checked in with God about your needs?
Listen. Don't get distracted with desires that may be keeping you from your destiny.
God is the only One who gives peace that lasts, joy that’s real, and identity that’s unshakable.
Let Me Wrap This Up.
Desire can get you there.
But only God can keep you there.
So if your life looks picture-perfect…but your spirit feels off…
Check your loyalty.
Were you faithful to the dream?
Or faithful to the One who gave it?
Because at the end of the day—
Faithfulness to God will take you further than any feeling ever could.
